  • WASHINGTON - today, the Department of Education US published the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). This release occurs when the Department continues to provide information, tools and resources to help students make informed decisions about their education options.

    Students and parents can easily complete the form through on a desktop or mobile device, and this year, improved help topics provide further guidance through the form. As a result of user feedback, many issues of financial aid at now have images of forms with line numbers corresponding visually highlighted to help applicants navigate the FAFSA. In addition, applicants logical jump-average functionality only see the questions that concern them.

    The tool Internal Revenue Service Data Recovery (IRS DRT) is still the fastest way for the applicants to enter information accurately tax on the FAFSA form. Beginning with the 2021-22 cycle, eligible students and parents to use the IRS DRT can safely transfer your answer to Question List 1 in the FAFSA form.

    The Department offers other tools and resources designed to help students complete and submit the FAFSA and make informed decisions. The Student Loan Annual Recognition provides links to the university control box, where students can estimate their starting salary after the conclusion based on the school they plan to attend and the program in which they enroll. For borrowers with existing loans, the Student Loan Annual Recognition describes how much you and the more you can borrow; Grant recipients can see how much they received and their remaining eligibility. Beginning with the 2021-22 award year, the student loan Annual Recognition is required before borrowers can receive a disbursement of financial aid.

    At the end of the year, the Department will launch an enhanced mobile application myStudentAid. The mobile app updated will have a whole new look and feel, and additional features, including:

  • A new control panel that will provide customers with a personalized "home page" where they can get a glimpse general of his help, see next payment loans and access to relevant content, resources and checklists;
  • Summary of aid will allow users to view detailed information on loans and grants help, overpayments of aid, loans Pell Grant eligibility direct and left, and more; and
  • The important alerts and updates to the account within the Center notification application.

    This year, as a result of future law (a law that facilitates data exchange cracks of information between the Department and the IRS), the Department also hopes to launch a simulator FAFSA. The simulator will enable the Department to obtain feedback from students and families about the ease of use and clarity of the FAFSA experience, because there may be future solution when the law is fully implemented.
