The University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign will soon require that all faculty members have a declaration of diversity to be considered for tenure or promotion.

Andreas C. Cangellaris, Provost of UIUC, announced the change this week saying that in order to meet the objectives of its current strategic plan, the university must "catalyze innovation and discovery, find innovative and proactive forms to educate students from all areas of life and develop increasingly deeper connections with the public we serve.
